This Media Policy explains how Tech Ferrets (“we”, “us”, “our”) handles photography, video recording, streaming, social media content, customer consent, branding usage, and data protection related to media. This policy supports transparency, protects personal information, and follows UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
This policy exists to:
- Protect customer privacy
- Ensure media is used ethically and legally
- Define when and how we capture or publish content
- Set rules for consent, data protection, and brand use
- Explain what customers can expect regarding photos, videos, and livestreams
It applies to all media captured, created, or published by Tech Ferrets.
We may create the following types of media:

We never record or publish content that contains personal data, identifying details, or sensitive information without consent.
We will only record, photograph, or livestream a customer device or repair if the customer provides explicit written consent, either electronically or on a signed form.
Consent must be freely given, informed, specific, and documented. We will never assume consent.
Customers may withdraw consent at any time before the media is published or streamed. Once published, we can remove media from our platforms, but content already shared by others cannot be fully retrieved.
We do not show:
- Personal data
- User files, desktops, documents, or messages

- Serial numbers or device identifiers
- Customer names unless consented
- Private conversations or correspondence
All media is reviewed before publication to support compliance.
If consent is granted, we may display:
- Showcase photos of a completed PC build
- Water-cooling loops, parts, and aesthetic features
- Interesting repairs or unusual faults with personal data removed
- Clean workstation shots
- Time-lapse or progress clips

We follow each platform’s community guidelines.
- No personal files or data are viewed unless required and authorised for repair.
- Screens are covered, blurred, or avoided during filming.
- Devices containing sensitive data are not shown on camera.
- Diagnostic screens or logs are reviewed before publication to remove identifiers.
- Any media containing accidental personal data is deleted promptly.
- If illegal, harmful, or hateful material is discovered during recording or streaming, recording is stopped and any livestream is paused immediately while it is handled appropriately.
We do not allow recording of private customer conversations, publishing customer communications without permission, or sharing identifying customer information alongside media.
All customer communications remain confidential.
